Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder is an umbrella term describing the range of cognitive, behavioral, and physical effects associated with prenatal alcohol exposure. Estimates are that 40,000 children are born each year in the U.S. with an FASD – more than Spina Bifida, Down Syndrome, Childhood Cancers, and Juvenile Diabetes combined!.
94% of individuals with an FASD also have a mental health condition and many individuals with an FASD have not been diagnosed. If your child received an FASD diagnosis or if you think your child may an FASD, join the Council for Families of Children and connect with other parents of a child with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder.
